A soft spot for silhouettes

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Whilst pottering around our apartment yesterday, I was reminded of my soft spot for silhouettes... the below image sits in a little frame on the chest of draws in our bedroom. I spotted this cheeky silhouette when I was walking the streets of Amsterdam last September (not in a ‘street walker’ way of course :P) and just had to take a photo... I like her thinking :)

Although the art of silhouettes was first introduced towards the end of the 17th century, it seems to have made a little comeback over the last few years and I love seeing silhouettes used in a modern way. Last year I stumbled across the charming, elegant Le Papier Studio and fell in love with many of their products including stationery, invitations, prints, gift sets and aprons, just to name a few. To add to the beauty of it all, Le Papier Studio specialises in creating unique custom made, personalised silhouettes for many of their products... how special! I thought I would share a few of my favourite items...

How gorgeous is this custom made wedding stationery...

The colour palette would have been perfect for our wedding!

Divine stationery gift sets...

Silhouette bookplates...

Custom prints of your children's silhouettes...

Just darling!

All of these make great gifts!

Personalise your walls with the ones you love!

Silhouette party favour stickers.

Heart and hand prints.

Vana Chupp, the creator of Le Papier Studio, also has a gorgeous blog and an Etsy store , both worth paying a visit! Only last week Vana was featured on the “Quit your day job series” on Etsy where she shares her story on how she quit her job, created a niche for herself on Etsy, her tips to other sellers and how she turned her passion and hobby into a full-time business! Quite inspiring indeed!

Do you share my soft spot for silhouettes?
