Gifts Galore!

Monday, August 30, 2010

How was your weekend? Well I know I certainly can't complain! After months and months (well, 7 months actually) and a not-so-nice experience with our freight company (who completely misquoted us and then proceeded to charge us almost double the amount... grrr), our wedding gifts finally arrived here in KL on Saturday... all the way from Sydney, Australia! The saying 'good things come to those who wait' certainly rang true :)

You can probably imagine my absolute excitement and eagerness to want to dive into these boxes BUT Mr B had a work conference on Friday night and half of Saturday and get this... he wasn't going to be home for another four whole hours!!! I was like a little child on Christmas morning... beside myself with anticipation at the thought of opening these boxes... the wait was killing me... so, I confess, like a naughty child on Christmas Eve, I had just a little sneak peek :P And then quickly got the guilts and realised that there was WAY to much fun to be had not to share it with my darling hubby! And boy did we have FUN!!!

One of the first boxes hubby handed me had inside not one
but TWO of our absolutely stunning Royal Albert Tea Sets
I am in LOVE! They were so gorgeously packaged and
the actual tea sets themselves are so darling that
even Mr B was swooning over them :)

And how appropriate that everything was 'Tied with a Bouw'! :)

Missoni towels =

A very happy Mrs Bouw!

Here is just a snap of a few of our glorious gifts...
there was, and still is, goodies scattered all
around the lounge and dining!

It looks more like a yard sale right?! Not that I
would ever give any of this away! AND the mess
was the furthest thing from my mind :)

Hubby and I feel so unbelievably spoilt and are just thrilled with everything! I will most probably share more pics of some of these amazing items with you over the weeks as I slowly find a place for each to live. But for now, I must be off, as I have a handy man coming today (providing he shows up!) to assist me with mounting the shelves in BB's nursery (as I need a special drill to get through the concrete walls)... YAY... I cannot wait to see the end result! I might even give you a sneak peek later this week :)

Have a great day my friends! :) x

Instant Entertaining!

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Most of you probably know that I love being in the kitchen. There is just something about cooking and baking that brings me much joy. It's probably a combination of my adoration of food, the pleasure it gives me to create a dish and the pleasure it gives me and others to eat it! Food glorious food!

Since hubby and I moved overseas, we don't do anywhere near as much entertaining as we used to which I really miss. BUT we are about to be hit with numerous visitors over the next month or so which has motivated me to dust off my cook books and look for some inspiration! I can't say I ever really 'follow' a recipe (my taste buds usually find something missing) but I do love looking through beautiful cookbooks for ideas that I can use as a base and then transform into my own.

One of my favourite cookbook authors is fellow Aussie, Donna Hay. Her recipes are SO easy to follow, focus on basic but yummy ingredients and are always so beautifully styled and photographed... being able to visualise the end result is always a big help to us wannabe chefs.

Roasted garlic and vegetable fold overs.

BUT probably one of my favourite things about Donna's books and superb website is that they also include so many wonderful style ideas for table settings, seasonal menus and even menus for specific occasions! Most of which you can create yourself with bits and pieces you most likely already have in your kitchen!

Hand drawn placemats.

Individual picnic pails.

Flavoured water.

Prettied up soda bottles.

Rose teacups.

Along with her website (which you should add to your 'favourites' toolbar if your haven't already), a MUST have for your cookbook collection is Donna Hay's 'Instant Entertaining'. I cannot tell you how many times I have referred to this book and even just enjoyed looking at the gorgeous images... a bible for any of you who love entertaining! And with the festive season just around the corner, what better time to pop on your apron, pull out your cook books and start working on a masterpiece of a menu! Happy cooking! x

Bali Bliss!

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Usually I would apologise for my absence but not this time... because I am definitely not sorry I was unable to blog due to being away in Bali with Mr B and my baby belly! :)

Hubby and I booked this little getaway a while ago and boy are we glad we did! With BB's due date creeping closer and closer, it was nice to be able to have some down time, just the two of us, before life gets a whole lot crazier! Not to mention I was SO happy to be able to sun bake my big, white belly in all my pregnant glory in the privacy of our very own villa!

Our zen water feature...

AND our very own pool...

Me enjoying a 'welcome drink' on arrival.

Perfect right?!

Al fresco living and dining...

And why not watch a bit of TV while soaking up the sun by the pool!

Mr B enjoying brekky at our villa...
prepared by our very own chefs!

The Ahimsa Estate is where we stayed.
This is me just before arriving at...

The infamous 'Bodyworks Day Spa'!
Hubby had a massage, while a pregnant Mumma Bouw
was pampered with a foot massage and pedicure :)

Mumma B and BB @ almost 6 1/2 months pregnant!

I had been umming and ahhing about this bag since our first day
which ended up being a last minute purchase on the way to the airport!

There you have it... a few happy snaps from our trip!

On a separate note, I am so excited to report that I had a whole heap of Etsy purchases arrive in yesterdays mail and I LOVE them all. BUT it is killing me not being able to share them with you as they are for the nursery and they might just give away BB's gender! Sorry folks :P

Anyway, it is a beautiful morning here in KL so I am off to tick some more boxes. Happy hump day! :) x

Now that's what I call carpet!

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Clearly not for the faint hearted (or the regular lounge room), this ridiculously over-the-top yet stunningly bold carpet lives in British Fine Jewelery designer Solange Azagury-Partridge's store in New York City! Now that's what I call a statement stripe! Solange also recently opened up a new store on Bonds Street in London, home to too many drool worthy high-end luxury brands. I can't wait to see some pics!

Who is Solange Azagury-Partridge you ask? Well unless you have been sleeping under a rock for most of 2010, I know you recognise the above statement necklace... well yup, that's one of Solange's now most infamous designs. Check out her website for some truly beautiful, daring, funky, bold and inspiring jewellery!

To stripe or not to stripe?!

Monday, August 16, 2010

I know similar posts to this one have been done to death and have probably been all around the blogging world and back again, but I am going to ask anyway... To stripe or not to stripe? That is the question!

We have been on the hunt for a rug for our very naked living room floor for almost too long now. We would have been happy to settle for something quite inconspicuous although we have found it almost impossible to find anything that will remotely do the trick... and the larger the space, the harder it is to find a rug that is big enough to fill it!

But on the weekend, I saw that Ikea Malaysia are due to (finally) release the ever so popular Ikea Stockholm Rand Rug. Although it wouldn't usually be my first pick, I have seen it styled in many different ways in the design world over the last year or so, I got to thinking... maybe I can make it work in our space. The larger size would fit perfectly... hmmm... and it is a bargain. We would definitely be going for a black and white look with pops of colour...

So, any thoughts my friends? Are you a fan? Or are you rather sick of seeing this rug featured here, there and everywhere? As always, your opinions and suggestion are much appreciated... thank-you!

I hope you're having a beautiful start to the week! x

Tickle my fancy Friday!

Friday, August 13, 2010

fan•cy fan•cies
1. The mental faculty through which whims, visions, and fantasies are summoned up; imagination, especially of a whimsical or fantastic nature.
2. An image or a fantastic invention created by the mind.
3. A capricious notion; a whim.
4. A capricious liking or inclination.
5. Critical sensibility; taste.
6. Amorous or romantic attachment; love.

This Friday I fancy:

These uber chic baby wipe cases...

If I'm going to be changing nappies,
I sure fancy doing it in style!

You can purchase them online from Haggus & Stookles!

This 'Only gold for me' top coat polish
sold at Sephora by O.P.I.

This "Sunshine Day" print by artist
Samantha Hahn...

Hmm to buy or not to buy...

This Bohemian Monogram Cheche by LV...

And this Pochette Nightbird pouch... perfect for a night out!
Both are a part of the LV Fashion Show Collection
for Spring/Summer 2010.

Oh and I fancy that this morning I finally found a new
bikini to accommodate my pregnancies 'not so fun' bags
(not an easy task here in Asia!)... but I what I don't fancy
is feeling and looking like a knocked up pornstar! Eeek!

And finally, I fancy that I am now 6 months pregnant...
why hello there third trimester!

What's on for the weekend? Me, well I am looking forward to seeing my husband this afternoon as he has been travelling again all week. I have a pot of chilli con carne simmering away on the stove top as I type, which we will scoff down for din dins tonight... the saying 'the way to a mans heart' definitely speaks true when you're talking about my man! As for tomorrow and Sunday, we don't have a great deal planned... this is more than ok with me! What ever it is you have planned, I hope you enjoy! :) x

IT'S A...

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

So, yesterday evening I eagerly walked my pregnant little butt down to the clinic to have my 'second opinion' scan after it was revealed last week that my OB and detailed scan specialist had a difference in opinion about BB's gender... AND I am relieved and very happy to report that the mystery of BB's sex has been solved!

IT'S A...

You didn't think I was going to tell you now did you?!

Case Closed. Happy bump, I mean hump day! :P x

Birds Of A Feather.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

I was browsing through my miscellaneous files and stumbled
across this girly, pretty image found here. Although I am
not sure it is my exact style to have decorative birdcages
in our home, I have always loved the look of them!

Obviously traditionally used to house birds, I adore seeing them used
purely for decorative use (like the above Wisteria Cage)
either in homes, restaurants, for weddings or even fashion!

You may have seen this gorgeously stylish window display
earlier this year... by none other than Louis Vuitton!
(Image via: here)

What I wouldn't do to have the keys to this cage!

The above images reminded me of the amazingly beautiful hens day my darling best friends and bridesmaids organised for me last November. I know I shared pictures of the bits and pieces I help create for their hens days (yes, the beginning of this year was wedding crazy) which you can see here, here and here, but I never shared any pics of what they created for me!

For the first time I was forced to relinquish all organising responsibilities (a big deal for bossy boots me :P) and left everything in their more than capable hands! They selected the stunning Hotel Nest as the venue (located in Albert Park, Melbourne) which is adorned with hanging bird cages, cuckoo clocks and a greenery... Unfortunately their web page is under works so I was unable to download any pics. The girls than ran with the whole birds & nest theme in an afternoon 'high tea' style which kicked on into the evening. It all came together perfectly!

Here are the beautiful handmade invitations
made by my creative and crafty girls!

They spent hours cutting out each individual bird
and attaching the wording and divine little birdcages!

Not to mention their oh so cute and theme
appropriate poem on the back of the invite!

So pretty!

Tables were decorated with fresh flowers, feathers and birdcages!

And here's me, the very happy hen! I had such a wonderful
day drinking champagne, eating cupcakes, Persian
fairy floss, scones and delicious finger sandwiches with
all of my closest friends! Each guest was also treated
to a private reading with a clairvoyant... fun!

It's all so beautiful right?! Thanks again to my super giving besties for making my days so special! Gosh, last November I was celebrating my hens day and this November (almost a year to the date) we will be welcoming Baby Bouw... speaking of Baby Bouw, I am going for that sneaky second opinion scan this evening and am SO anxious and excited to finally confirm BB's sex. I'll be back tomorrow to let you know how it goes! x
