Apologies for my absence my friends but I have been kinda busy...

After months and months of me writing about the much anticipated arrival of our precious Baby Bouw, it is with enormous pride and joy that I am beyond thrilled to announce that SHE is finally here!!! Yes, that's right, IT'S A GIRL!!!

Our beautiful little darling, Allegra Isobel Bouw, arrived fashionably late on Friday 26th November at 11:11pm weighing in at 7.7 pounds! Like Mummy, Allegra seems to have a thing for numbers (note the 11:11 & 7.7)... I will explain more about this soon!

We are hoping to check out of the hospital tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait to share all the details with you once we are settled at home. BUT for the time being I couldn't help but to show off some pics of our gorgeous girl and the most amazing day of our lives to date!

Introducing Allegra Isobel Bouw!

Our very first cuddle!

Love at first sight... for the both of us!

Daddy in absolute awe of his little girl.

There's nothing like Mumma's milk!

So sweet!

Daddy and daughter!

Still in shock that little miss has
such a head of brown hair! :)

And again... just so divine.

As I said, I will no doubt be back soon with LOTS more photos and to share with you the story of the most magical and intense day of our lives!

Oh and I have kept you in suspense regarding all of the purchases I have made for Allegra over the months including the details of her nursery... I promise some of these details will be revealed in true style VERY SOON... so stay tuned :) x

Over-baking with Mrs Bouw!

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I just thought I'd check in to let you know that I now have an over-baked bun in the oven... yes, that's right, still no Baby Bouw! Three days overdue and counting. My most precious recipe yet obviously needs a little more time to be cooked to perfection :) x

We all know BB's sex has remained top secret (even from our family and close friends) so I won't be sharing details of BB's nursery until after bubs has arrived! So in the meantime, I thought I would share a few darling gifts that have made their way to us in the last week or so all the way from Australia! I still have to take pics of some of the other goodies we have received over the months! I must admit, everyone has done a brilliant job of buying 'gender neutral' pressies for Baby Bouw...

This particular parcel arrived a few weeks ago...

One of my besties came up with the idea
to do a spin on my 'Letter's to BB'...

And this gorgeous box was filled with letters
from my close girlfriends for both
Baby Bouw and Mumma Bouw!

I was so touched by the thoughtfulness of this gift
and the letters themselves. What a beautiful keepsake!
Thank-you so much my dearests!

These gorgeous 'Seed' onsies and patchwork tassel blanket
were sent across last week from my little sister. I think
it is driving her a little crazy not knowing the gender
as this is the third package she has sent across
making sure she has all bases covered :)

She also sent across some gorgeous Chrissy
ornaments for BB's first Christmas!

This lovely box for bubs' Birth Certificate
was sent from my big bro and his partner.

These adorably fresh, crisp white animals (that also jingle)
are from my Mum! Although given they are so white
they may have to be for 'decoration purpose' only.

And how cute are these hand made dolls (also from Mum)!
She thought she would buy both a little girl dolly
and a little boy dolly, again suitable for both genders!

Meet Sofie the Giraffe! The perfect toy for 0+ bubbies!
Thanks to my gorgeous and thoughtful friend Peta for thinking of us!

What better than to make BB feel like a 'true Aussie'
with this Peter Alexander Vegemite onsie... thanks Miss JJ!

And to finish off, I thought I'd share a pic of
this card that made me giggle :)

Baby Bouw is already ridiculously loved (and just slightly spoilt :P) and has a nursery full of goodies that I can't wait to share with you all!

Anyway, back to the Docs tomorrow to check in on how our little one is doing... hopefully it won't be too much longer until our precious little bundle decides to join us! Stay tuned my friends! x

P.S Thanks to my witty buddy Jules for the title 'Over-baking with Mrs Bouw'... love it!

Letter's to BB: Entry #8

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Hello my sweetness!

It is Thursday 18th November 2010... and there are only 3 days until your due date! Less than a week ago you were still sitting too high up in my belly and showing no signs of joining us anytime soon... BUT your Dad and I just got back from another visit to the Doc and were SO relieved to learn that you have finally lowered and are now sitting in the perfect position ready for delivery! Yay... eeek... yay... crap! And so now is when the real mixture of emotions begin but I suppose I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm not sure if it's just my imagination or me getting overly excited but I have felt a little 'different' these last couple of days. I hardly slept last night which is apparently a sure sign that you are not too far away! Everyone is telling me I should rest up as much as possible now but let's face it, I just can't sit still and we all know I am about to whip out the vacuum cleaner to give the place one last clean. I think the adrenaline has already started to kick in and I feel like I am going a million miles an hour! And your poor Daddy, well, let's just say I'm not sure how much longer he can cope with the suspense. I asked him earlier today if there was anything he wanted me to pack into my hospital bag for him and he said the only things he would be needing was the 'happy gas' and a crash helmet as he is likely to repeatedly pass out :P

You really have blessed me with such a dream pregnancy my little one and at 3 days shy of being full term I am still feeling great! So thank-you again for treating Mummy so well these last nine months... let's just hope we can continue this harmony once you arrive :P

Mumma B @ the beginning of Week 40!

And again!

Well my darling, I will make this last entry short and sweet because we will be seeing you VERY soon and my exhilaration is beyond putting it into words. The only way I can sum it up is to let you know that Mummy and Daddy are ready. Ready to bring you into this world. Ready to lay eyes on you and to hold you for the first time. For you to change our lives in the most wondrous way possible and to give you the best life possible. Ready to experience the magic of growing this already infinite love we have for you. And telling you every day, for eternity, just how great this love is.

So our little BB, we're ready when you are!

We love you beyond words...

Mummy & Daddy x

O Christmas tree..

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Hi there! And before you ask, nope, BB hasn't decided to join the party just yet!

Fact- I LOVE Christmas. Always have. Always will. It is my absolute favourite time of the year. I just adore everything about the festive season but I especially love the smell of real Christmas trees and have never been able to bring myself to purchase a fake one even though some of them are equally as beautiful. Hubby, Baby Bouw and I will be spending our Christmas back in Australia and given that we will be busy busy in the lead up being brand new parents, paired with the fact that I am not even sure if they have real Chrissy trees here in Malaysia, I am thinking I might have to be a little more creative this year...

I have seen the above idea used many times and if done
correctly can look really beautiful and so effective!
Have any of you ever tried it?!

I also stumbled across the above image...
how adorable is this baby blue 'post-it' tree!

I would love to hear of any alternative ways of creating a fuss free, mess free Christmas tree! P.S only 38 days until Santa comes... YAY! Have a great day! x

Tickle my fancy Friday!

fan•cy fan•cies
1. The mental faculty through which whims, visions, and fantasies are summoned up; imagination, especially of a whimsical or fantastic nature.
2. An image or a fantastic invention created by the mind.
3. A capricious notion; a whim.
4. A capricious liking or inclination.
5. Critical sensibility; taste.
6. Amorous or romantic attachment; love.

This Friday I fancy:

This turquoise and Swarovski crystal cuff...

And this set of 5 22-karat gold plated bangles,
both from Kenneth Jay Lane

This handmade cuckoo clock from Etsy seller Bonni1982

LOVING this 'Pearl Buffet'...

And this 'Pearl Modular Lounge'...
Both from Zuster!

I fancy that Donna Hay's Online General Store
is now open! Definitely worth a browse!

Lastly, I would REALLY fancy BB’s surprising us by
making a slightly early arrival... ready when you are my darling!

I have another appointment in less than 3 hours and I'm very excited to see how we are tracking... 8 days until due date! Mr B and I don't have much planned for the next few weeks as we eagerly await the arrival of our precious Baby Bouw, although we do have my Mum arriving next Saturday which will be nice! If I completely disappear off the radar you will know it is because I am up to more important things... like giving birth! :P

Have a gorgeous weekend! x

Baking with Mrs Bouw

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Ok, so I think I have taken this whole ‘nesting’ thing to a new level... our place is spotless. I have lost count of how many times I have dusted, vacuumed and mopped (just for the sake of it might I add), the four bathrooms (and 6 toilets!) have been scrubbed, all the washing is done, the cupboards are stocked and the nursery is ready for BB to move on in. So, now that I am pretty much just playing the ‘waiting game’ I have all the time in the world to bake! Plus it gives me something to clean up afterwards :P

It has been a few years since I have made this recipe (taken from my trusty Woman’s Weekly ‘Cook’ book) and I forgot how easy and yummy they are! If you are a fan of lemony treats (like my hubby) you will be sure to enjoy these sweet and tangy squares... the perfect thing to satisfy that afternoon craving or to serve to visitors over afternoon tea!

Combine the butter and icing sugar and beat until smooth...

This is what your mixture will look like
once you've added the flour.

Press mixture into prepared greased and lined pan,
bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Combine eggs, caster sugar, remaining flour,
rind and juice and whisk until combined.

This is what your filling will look like.

This is how your base should appear
after baking for 15 minutes...

Pour egg mixture over hot base
and pop back in the oven.

Ta-da... too easy!

Tangy Lemon Squares
125g butter
¼ cup icing sugar
1 ¼ cups plain flour
3 eggs
1 cup caster sugar
2 teaspoons finely grated lemon rind
½ cup lemon juice

- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C for a fan-forced oven).
- Grease a 23cm square pan and line the base and two opposite sides of the pan with baking paper.
- Beat butter and sifted icing sugar into a small bowl with an electric mixer until smooth. Stir in one cup of the sifted flour.
- Press mixture over base of pan and bake, uncovered, for about 15 minutes or until browned lightly.
- Place eggs, caster sugar, remaining sifted flour, rind and juice in a medium bowl and whisk until combined.
- Pour egg mixture over hot base and bake, uncovered, for about 20 minutes or until firm.
- Cool in pan on wire rack. Lift slice from pan before cutting. Dust with extra sifted icing sugar if desired.
- Enjoy :)

Another simple yet delicious recipe to add to your collection using basic ingredients you will most likely already have in your cupboards and fridge at home!

I'm quietly hoping BB decides to join the party a week early... if you can hear me my little one, this Saturday would be nice please! I had my second dream two nights ago that bubba arrives on the 13th (not the due date of the 21st) so am curious to see if my dreams come true! As for today, well it's a gorgeous sunny morning here in KL so I might grab one of my many 'baby books' and a lounge by the pool and torture myself some more by reading all the nitty gritty details involved in giving birth. And once I get sick of that, well, I can always vacuum one more time. Yep, I sure know how to show myself a good time :P

Have a great day my friends and happy baking! x

MWM Interior Design

Monday, November 8, 2010

Whilst browsing through the gorgeous pages of Ivy & Piper (the latest online home decor magazines to hit our virtual shelves) and reading the interview on the three talented ladies behind Massucco Warner Miller Interior Design and Decorations (MWM), I learnt that they are responsible for creating so many stunning spaces I have admired over the months. I'm sure I am not alone in my admiration for these rooms and I bet I am not the only one who never knew they were all created by this one San Fransisco based firm! Here are a few of my favourites...

So pretty yes?! I think MWM are particularly good at creating such beautiful bedrooms... loving the colours in the first image! Be sure to check out both Ivy & Piper and MWM's websites!

How was your weekend? It was a long weekend here in KL so hubby and I enjoyed a blissful (and long overdue) three days together doing all the things we love... relaxing, eating, shopping, dvd watching, lunching and of course just spending some quality time together! The mini break couldn't have come at a better time given are lives are about to change forever and the two of us will soon become three... 13 days until BB's due date! Eeek!

P.S 46 days until Christmas!!! x
